Some of the food that we eat everyday are ruthless killers and they even constitute some of our problems that we didn’t even know about.
Some of these foods cause elevated blood pressure, high levels of cholesterol, heart diseases, diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer’s disease, and even cancer.
Try to avoid or limit the consuming these foods that we will mention here:
Canned Tomato Sauce
Nobody would have guessed that canned tomato paste is a ruthless killer in disguise. Do you know that it contains high levels of sugar . To this it can lead to an increased risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and even tooth decay.
Just use fresh tomatoes to make the sauce yourself, and add the spices.
Soda
Carbonated drinks are all around us. La Casera, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Miranda, etc.
Don’t mind the marketing disguises that they use that say it’s good for yuur health and contains nutrients that are good for your body.
All it has is a bunch of sugar, food color, and preservatives. Sugar-free carbonated drinks are not entirely sugar free. Just make your own juice.
Sugar
Sugar is very hard to ignite. But too much intake of it can lead to diabetes. Try and avoid it as much as possible if you don’t want to end up taking insulin shots at least once a day throughout yuur entire life.
Enjoy a bowl of fruit or add honey to your recipes instead of this unhealthy sugar
4.Vegetable oil
Vegetable oils contain dangerous trans-fats that can trigger cardiovascular disease, obesity, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Try to use other healthy oils and alternatives such as olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil
5.Margarine:
Marketing has created a very ‘genuine’ notion margarine is healthy. This is not true. Margarine is one of the most unhealthiest foods in your diet.
Margarine is gotten from hydrogenated Vegetable oil. It is far more harmful than you may think so it is recommended that you go for real butter instead as it is more preferable and healthier.
The trans fats in margarine can damage your heart, blood vessels, and mess up your cholesterol levels. If you can’t afford butter then try using avocado or olive oil
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has responded to the apology from the son of the former head of state, Aminu Shagari over the way he participated in the ouster of the fmr president.
He made the assertion while answering questions on the state of the nation at its 60th independence, he also spoke of his disappointments with the Buhari regime.
Shagari noted with dismay, how his father was forgotten by the Buhari administration even after they had promised to immortalize the man after his death.
He added that the Presidency never contacted the family and to the best of his knowledge, nothing has changed ever since President Buhari made the promise.
He also recalled how he really supported, campaigned for, and mobilized people for the election of President Buhari because they had to listen and remember their father’s advice to forgive all and allow peace reign.
Shagari also noted that Buhari had promised the Sokoto gov, Alh Tambuwal that he would immortalize their father but up til now, nothing was done about it even as the FG had immortalized some Nigerians at the last railway station commissioning.
He also mentioned how the security situation of the country has not allowed him visit his people in a long while stating that the situation has so much deteriorated with bandits killing people indiscriminately in his region.
He later asked the former president, Jonathan for forgiveness adding that he was one of the major personalities that was instrumental to his defeat in the region.
Jonathan while responding, said he has forgiven him although he never took offense in all the accusations that were thrown towards him.
He added that he has no enemies to fight and further urged him to emulate the humility of his father, the late Alh Shehu Shagari

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Supreme Court, which has already turned aside one effort to expand mail-in voting during the pandemic, heard arguments Wednesday over Harris County’s plan to send absentee voting applications to all registered voters in the county.
The vast majority of those voters are not eligible to vote by mail, and receiving an official invitation to do so would sow confusion, Solicitor General Kyle Hawkins told the court.
“This action that Hollins contemplates is a serious affront to electoral integrity on the eve of a national election,” he said.
Susan Hays, a lawyer for Hollins, argued that state law gives county officials broad power to manage and conduct elections.
“The clerk does have the right to mail these out in a normal election. It helps to make the election run more smoothly,” she said. “The pandemic makes it all the more important that this be done. This isn’t just a matter of voting rights now, it’s a matter of public health.”
The emphasis must be on helping voters, Hays said, adding: “We encourage people to vote as the government. We do not put up hurdles.”
In oral arguments conducted over Zoom because of the pandemic, Justice Eva Guzman pushed back, saying a mass mailing of applications appears to go beyond merely managing an election, particularly because state election law specifies that the applications must be given to voters “upon request.”null
The power to manage an election, Hays responded, must include efforts to help eligible voters cast a vote by mail, particularly during a pandemic.
“By increasing the ratio of voters who vote by mail, you decrease the bodies that come into the polling place,” she argued.
Guzman also picked up on Paxton’s argument that mail-in ballots are more susceptible to fraud than in-person voting, which requires a photo ID.
Briefs in favor of Hollins, Guzman asked Hays, “argue there is no proof of rampant or significant voter fraud, but you’ll agree any fraud dilutes votes. Is even one fraudulent vote acceptable?”
Hays replied that there are numerous safeguards to verify mailed ballots, including signatures that must match on the ballot and application for the ballot, Hays replied.
“The act of giving someone an application doesn’t increase fraud,” Hays said, adding that unsolicited vote by mail applications are routinely sent by political campaigns and advocacy groups without raising concerns from state lawyers about fraud.
But Hawkins argued that Hollins is proposing something else.
“I think there is something fundamentally different about a governmental entity, bearing the imprimatur of the government, sending you something saying here, take a look at this. That’s, I think, distinguishable from the reams of junk mail that we all receive in our mailboxes every day,” he said.
In May, the all-Republican Supreme Court rejected a bid by the Texas Democratic Party to allow any voter to cast a mail-in ballot during the pandemic.
Democrats argued that a lack of immunity to COVID-19 qualified as a disability for every voter, but the court sided with Paxton, ruling that state law defines disability as a “sickness or physical condition,” not a generalized fear of contracting a deadly disease.
The Harris County vote by mail case is on an expedited schedule with early voting set to begin Oct. 13.
The Supreme Court gave no indication when a ruling might be expected, but the court typically issues opinions on Friday mornings.null
President Donald Trump boasted during this week’s debate that the military could administer 200,000 COVID-19 vaccines a day when one is ready – a feat that would still mean years before every American got a vaccine.
During the debate section on the coronavirus pandemic, Trump touted his plan to distribute a future coronavirus vaccine while saying he disagrees with his administration’s health experts’ expected timeline for having one that’s widely available to the public.nullnull
“We’re going to deliver it right away,” the president said after stating he thinks one could be ready by Nov. 1. “We have the military all set up. Logistically they’re all set up. We have our military that delivers soldiers and they can do 200,000 a day.”
Trump has repeatedly contradicted public health officials about the future of a vaccine.
Dr. Robert Redfield, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said earlier this month it would likely be next spring or summer before a vaccine is widely available. Trump later said Redfield was mistaken and that it would be available by the end of this year. Dr. Anthony Fauci, White House coronavirus adviser, has said it may be early 2021 before a vaccine is ready.null
It’s unclear what Trump intended the military’s role to be with the vaccine, as health professionals would also likely help administer the vaccines to the public.
But if Trump’s promise of 200,000 vaccines a day did come to fruition, it would still take several years to vaccinate every American.
The United States has a population of 329,877,505 as of July 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It would take roughly 1,649 days – or about 4.5 years – to vaccinate the entire population at a rate of 200,000 shots a day.
Clinical trials have suggested more than one dose of the vaccine might be necessary to be effective, McClatchy News reports, meaning it would take even longer to reach every American. If two doses are needed, the timeline could look more like nine years.nullnull
Once a vaccine is ready, the process is still far from over. The doses must be manufactured and then shipped across the country to hospitals, doctor’s offices and pharmacies before they can reach the public in coordination with the CDC and state and local health departments, The Atlantic reports.
“The COVID situation is significantly different and more complex than anything that we have had to deal with in the past,” Kris Ehresmann, infectious disease director at the Minnesota Department of Health, said, according to The Atlantic.
After Trump’s comment during the debate, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden pointed to Trump’s previous statements about when the pandemic would be over.null
“This is the same man who told you by Easter this would be gone away – by the warm weather it would be gone like a miracle,” Biden said.
