Nigerian lady who started working as a hairdresser at 17 becomes a millionaire at 20

Nigerian lady who started working as a hairdresser at 17 becomes a millionaire at 20
A quite hardworking Nigerian lady with Twitter handle, @Nathelocgod has flaunted the immensely beneficial outcome of being hardworking and dedicated to one’s craft.
The lady took to her Twitter page to tell her followers that after working as a hairdresser at the age of 17, she ended up becoming a millionaire at 20.
The lady who’s now a young CEO, shared some photos alongside her post, and in one image showed her in a salon working on a client’s head. In the second frame, she posed in her warehouse of hair products.

After she was asked how she was able to achieve the financial success, within a short period of time, she explained in
subsequent tweets.

According to @Nathelocgod, she started practicing the hairstyling craft by braiding her mum’s hair as well as hers at home.
She thereafter worked in a salon for three years and when she turned 19, launched her product line. The company picked off well and due to its success, she had to leave her daily job as a hairdresser to become a CEO.

After sometime, she was able to set up her own salon and employ a stylist in January 2020 which then expanded to two salon suites, and with 13 people working in her establishments.
She also disclosed that she has a 6,400sq foot warehouse.

We’ll not cross carpet to APC — Ebonyi PDP lawmakers in NASS
The PDP lawmakers in the assembly were reacting to the recent cross-carpeting of the Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi from the PDP to the APC.
The Ebonyi lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the National Assembly (NASS) say no member of the caucus is defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The chair of the caucus, Sam Egwu, in the company of three other senators and five House of Representatives members from Ebonyi, said this at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
The PDP lawmakers in NASS were reacting to the recent cross carpeting of the Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi from the PDP to the APC.
Mr Egwu, who spoke on behalf of the caucus said: “For the sake of clarity, we wish to state that not a single member of the Ebonyi State PDP caucus of the National Assembly is leaving to the APC.
“The three distinguished Senators and five House of Representatives members remain proud card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform under which we contested and won elections in 2019.”
He said the major reason given by Umahi for exiting PDP to the APC was now in the public domain, which was that the PDP had not been fair to the people of South East on the issue of zoning the Presidency and Vice Presidency.
He said the caucus supported calls that it was the turn of the South-east to fly the presidential flag of any of the major political parties come 2023
He, however, said the PDP NASS caucus considered his cross carpeting as “impolitic, indecent and unwise” to give ultimatums and conditionalities in a bid to secure zoning.
“Indeed, if there is any Ebonyi person who should remain eternally grateful to the PDP, that individual ought to be the Governor, David Umahi.
“A man who was appointed the Ebonyi State chairman of the PDP, made deputy governor of a PDP administration, and was elected for two terms under the banner of the PDP.
“As Governor, his two younger brothers were elected to principal offices of the PDP, one, Mr Austine Umahi, as the National Vice Chairman South East and another, Mr Maxwell Umahi as the Deputy State Chairman of the PDP.”
He said as democrats, the caucus acknowledged Mr Umahi’s right to join any political association of his choice.
He, however, noted that as federal lawmakers they were not unaware of the Supreme Court decision that candidates are products of political parties.
“What it means is that political office holders are not at liberty to migrate from one political platform to another, particularly when there is no division in their party,” Egwu explained.
He thanked the leadership of the PDP for its prompt action in dissolving the ward, local government, state and zonal structures of the party in Ebonyi.
He also thanked the PDP for its announcement of a state caretaker team.
“We also wish to thank teeming members and supporters in our various constituencies who have remained undaunted and committed to their membership of the PDP.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that present at the news conference was Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP Abia) who is Senate’s minority leader.
Other lawmakers from Ebonyi are: Obinna Ogba, Mike Nnachi, Sylvester Ogbaga, Igariwey Enwo, Chukwuma Nwazunku, Edwin Anayo and Livinus Makwe.

POLITICS2023: PDP clears air on zoning presidency as Umahi prepares to defect to APCPublished on November 16, 2020 By Ifreke Inyang
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted there have been no discussions on the zoning of candidates in the 2023 general elections.
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, stated this while speaking on Arise TV on Monday.
Ologbondiyan was reacting to reports that the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Umahi believes that the APC would protect the interest of the South-East in the 2023 elections.
But Ologbondiyan admits the concerns raised by the Governor as it relates to the fate of the South-East in the next presidential election were genuine.
He, however, insisted that the party has not started discussions on the zoning of candidates in the 2023 presidential election.
“The concerns raised by Governor Umahi as it affects the South-East, the party believes are genuine concerns. And when the time comes and all the variables are considered, and all the issues are taken into consideration, the party will take its decision.
“PDP is not a party that can be stampeded. We are not a party that takes decisions on the impulse of one or two individuals. We are a structured political party. We have our various organs and decisions as important as the zoning of the number one office is not a decision that can be taken at a sitting; it is a decision that must be taken round all the interests and the organs of our party. We haven’t even started the discussion, that’s the honest truth.

Blackout may hit Aso Villa as flood damages Delta power plant
By Sony Neme (Asaba), Joke Falaju (Abuja), Kelvin Ebiri (Port Harcourt), and John Akubo (Lokoja)25 September 2018 | 4:19 am

SODIQ ADELAKUN / AFP
• NEMA records 108 deaths
• FG promises compensation in Kogi
The oil-rich Ndokwa East Council of Delta State, host to the Okpai Gas Independent Power plant with a dedicated power supply to Aso Villa, Abuja, is submerged.
It is the same situation in other 79 communities and over 100 oil-producing communities in Ndokwa West and Ukwuani councils that are demanding N50 billion compensation from Abuja.
President-general of Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), Chief Johnson Opone, told journalists at his Kwale residence yesterday that: “Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had last week advised that we should help to evacuate our people, especially those on the River Niger area. Our people are predominantly farmers and fishermen. We are collecting data of structures that have been submerged, running into N50 billion.”

According to Opone, Ndokwa East, which is below sea level, and Ndokwa West are having their fair share of the disaster.
He called on governments, multilateral agencies and kind-hearted individuals to come to the aid of the victims.
However, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said it has recorded 108 deaths in the 12 flooded states.
It also disclosed that 441,252 people were affected, while 13,031 houses and 122,653 farmlands were destroyed.
NEMA, in a situation update in Abuja, expressed concern that the large scale flooding might continue to rise further as assessments were ongoing, especially in Bayelsa and Rivers states believed to be among the worst hit.
In Rivers State, at least, two persons are feared dead and hundreds displaced as flood ravaged over 30 communities in Ahoada West Council.
Worried over the damage caused by the flood, chairman of the council, Mr. Hope Ikiriko, implored the Federal Government to immediately declare emergency in the affected areas.
The chairman explained that the local authorities had lost count of the number of displaced persons.
“We are in the midst of the flood. In this council, we have over 40 buildings that are already submerged. Communities now affected are above 30. We are living in fear because the number of communities leaving is counting everyday. The report I got is that two people have drowned in the flood,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has promised to rehabilitate flood victims and compensate those who lost their farmlands and properties to the flood in Kogi State.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was in the state for an on-the-spot assessment of the disaster, said there was need for more relief materials to be deployed to the state.

NNPC raises petrol depot price, marketers to sell at N168-N170/litre

The Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, has increased the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, to N155.17 per litre from N147.67 per litre.
The PPMC disclosed this in an internal memo with reference number PPMC/C/MK/003, dated November 11, 2020, and signed by Tijjani Ali.
The memo, a copy of which was seen by our correspondent, said the new ex-depot price would take effect from Friday.
The ex-depot price is the price at which the product is sold by the PPMC to marketers at the depots.
In its PMS price proposal for November, the PPMC put the landing cost of petrol at N128.89 per litre, up from N119.77 per litre in September/October.
It said the estimated minimum pump price of the product would increase to N161.36 per litre from N153.86 per litre.
The National Operation Controller, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr Mike Osatuyi, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said the over N7 increase in ex-depot price would translate into an increase in pump prices.
He said, “The implication of the increase in the ex-depot price is that there is going to be an increase in the pump price. We are expecting the pump price to range from N168 to N170 per litre.
“Crude oil price is going up,” he said, noting that the Federal Government has fully deregulated petrol prices.
Following the deregulation of petrol prices in September, marketers across the country adjusted their pump prices to between N158 and N162 per litre to reflect the increase in global oil prices.
Petrol price band had also risen from N121.50–N123.50 per litre in June to N140.80-N143.80 in July and N148-N150 in August.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, said in September that the government had stepped back in fixing the price of petrol, adding that market forces and crude oil price would continue to determine the cost of the product.

Ahmad on his Twitter page wrote: “FAKE NEWS ALERT: The Federal Government is NOT planning to start paying repented Boko Haram members N150,000 monthly.
“The story is baseless and should be regarded as the usual fake news. When you see it here or on WhatsApp, ask the poster to provide a credible source of the story.”
Nigeria gets new special police unit

The Nigeria Police Force now has a new special unit, DAILY POST reports.
The new unit is the Special Constabulary Police.
Officers, who were listed as special constables into the new unit had their passing-out parade across the federation on Friday.

The special constables, DAILY POST learnt, are to perform the much-talked about community policing duties.
In Ogun State, about 320 new officers were said to have been arrested trained at the Police Training School, Iperu.
The Commandant of the training school, Abdulsalam Razaq, said the new intakes were indigenes of the 20 local governments in Ogun.
According to him, they would be deployed to their various local governments to assist the police in modern policing and to stem the spate of crimes in their communities.
Rasaq disclosed that the special constables have been well trained on how best to perform police duties, intelligence gathering and respect for human rights.

In his words, the parade reviewing officer, Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, urged the newly recruited officers to make good use of the trainings they have received some far.
Adamu, who was represented by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, appealed to the special constables to perform their duties diligently in life with internal best practices.
He told them to respect the human rights, saying whoever engaged in any unprofessional conduct would be shown the way out.
Nigerians Blast Super Eagles After Throwing Away A Four Goal Lead Against Sierra Leone

Nigeria had gone four goals ahead inside the opening 30 minutes of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone, but the Leone Stars pulled off a miraculous comeback to draw level at full time
Fans have expressed their anger at the Super Eagles following their 4-4 draw against the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
It took the three-time African champions just four minutes to open the scoring in the first leg of their doubleheader Afcon qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Alex Iwobi’s shot gave Nigeria the lead inside the opening five minutes before Victor Osimhen finished off a low cross from Zaidu Sanusi to double the Super Eagles lead.
Iwobi’s curler from about 30 yards out made it three in the 27th minute. Samuel Chukwueze then made it four with a brilliant solo effort in the 30th minute.
At that point, it looked like it was going to be a routine win for Gernot Rohr’s men. However, Sierra Leone had other ideas, and they pulled one back four minutes before half-time through Kwame Quee.
The second-half saw the West African nation score three goals to complete an incredible comeback. First, Al-Hadji Kamara made it 4-2 in the 72nd minute before Mustapha Bundu’s header in the 80th minute set up a nervy finish.
And with just four minutes to go, Zaidu Sanusi was dispossessed on the edge of the box, and the resulting ball fell into the path of Kamara, who headed home his second to secure an unlikely point for Sierra Leone.
Following the encounter, many Nigerians took to Twitter to express their feelings towards the disappointing result.
End SARS: Moghalu reveals what’ll happen in Nigeria over freezing of protesters’ accounts by Buhari govt

A presidential candidate in the last general elections, Kingsley Moghalu, has warned the President Muhammadu Buhari government against the clampdown on some promoters of the recently End SARS protests.
The former Young Progressive Party (YPP) flagbearer noted that the move will backfire, describing it as unacceptable.
Moghalu, a former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Deputy Governor tweeted on Monday that such action is entirely wrong, adding that it would lead to more crisis.
“The clampdown on #EndSARS protesters and supporters is completely WRONG and unacceptable!,” he tweeted.
“I urge the authorities to ‘reverse gear’. These actions raise questions about the good faith of the government and risk igniting even more resistance. Not wise!”
The Buhari government had last obtained court injunction from the federal High Court in Abuja to freeze the bank accounts of 19 individuals and a public affairs company link to the protests.
The court granted CBN’s request to freeze the accounts

CBN accuses #EndSARS campaigners of terrorismNov 11, 2020

The Federal Government was able to freeze the accounts of 20 #EndSARS campaigners after telling a Federal High Court in Abuja that the funds in their accounts might have been linked to terrorist activities.
This is according to a written address in support of a motion ex parte filed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The CBN had in the second week of October frozen 20 accounts and thereafter approached the court to seek an ex parte order to freeze the accounts.
In the case with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1384/2020, filed before Justice A. R. Mohammed, the CBN, however, made no mention of the fact that the 20 accounts were owned by persons involved in the #EndSARS protests, but told the court that the funds might have emanated from terrorist activities.
The written address read in part, “My lord, the nature of the transactions undertaken through the defendants’ accounts are of suspected terrorism financing in contravention of Section 13(1)(a)and(b) of the Terrorism (Prevention)(Amendment) Act, 2013 and Regulation 31(2)(a)and (3)(b) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism Regulations, 2013.”
In a supporting affidavit deposed to by one Aondowase Jacob on behalf of the CBN, it was stated that the Head of the Economic Intelligence Unit of the Governor’s Department, CBN, Joseph Omayuku, had conducted an investigation on the accounts of the defendants and other individuals and entities held with certain banks in Nigeria.
According to the affidavit, the investigation showed that the owners of the accounts may have been involved in terrorist activities.
It added, “There is a grave allegation that the defendants are involved in suspected terrorism financing via their bank accounts in contravention of the provisions of extant laws and regulations. The aforesaid transactions undertaken by the defendants, using their bank accounts, can cause significant economic and security harm to the public and the Federal Republic of Nigeria if left unchecked.
“The applicant (CBN governor) is thus desirous to have the court empower him to direct the freezing of the 20 accounts listed on the annexure to this application and all other bank accounts held by the defendants.
“A freezing order of this honourable court in respect of the defendants’ accounts would also enable the investigation of the activities of the defendants to a logical conclusion with a view to reporting same to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.”
The apex bank said unless the order was granted, it would not be able to ensure that the money remained intact, while investigations were ongoing.
The 20 accounts frozen by the CBN are domiciled in Access Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Fidelity Bank, United Bank for Africa and Zenith Bank.
The accounts were said to have been flagged after they received money with the narration #EndSARS.
One of the frozen accounts, marked 0056412470 and domiciled in Access Bank, belongs to Bolatito Olorunrinu Oduala, an #EndSARS campaigner, who was appointed into the Lagos State judicial panel set up by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Another frozen account marked 0033974485 and domiciled in Access Bank belongs to Bassey Israel, the medical team coordinator for the #EndSARS protests in Port Harcourt.
Similarly, an account marked 0054676984 domiciled in Access Bank belongs to Gatefield Nigeria Limited, which paid freelance journalists to cover the protests.
Justice Mohammed froze the accounts for 180 days subject to renewal, but said anyone who was not satisfied with the ruling was free to challenge it.

Why we can’t remove Arabic from Naira note, CBN tells court

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has opposed a suit seeking to remove the Ajami (Arabic) inscriptions on naira notes.
It told the Federal High Court it would cost a ‘colossal sum of money’ to discard the existing notes and print new ones without Ajami.
The CBN said Ajami is not a symbol or mark of Islam but an inscription to aid non-English speakers who are literate in and use Ajami for trade.
It made the submission in a counter-affidavit to a suit filed by a Lagos-based lawyer, Chief Malcolm Omirhobo, before Justice Mohammed Liman.
Mr Malcolm argued the Arabic inscriptions on the naira notes portray Nigeria as an Islamic state, contrary to the country’s constitutional status of a secular state.
He contended this violates sections 10 and 55 of the Nigerian Constitution, which make the country a secular state.
Section 10 reads: “The government of the Federation or of a state shall not adopt any religion as state religion.”
He prayed the court to restrain the CBN from “further approving, printing and issuing naira notes with Arabic inscriptions, bearing in mind that Nigeria is a secular state.”
He further prayed the court to order the CBN to replace the Arabic inscriptions with either English language, which is the country’s official language, or any of Nigeria’s three main indigenous languages – Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo.
But in its counter-affidavit deposed to by Abiola Lawal, the CBN argued that “the Ajami inscriptions on some of the country’s currencies do not connote any religious statements or Arabian alignment.”
The apex bank maintained that contrary to Omirhobo’s claim, the Arabic inscriptions were not a threat to Nigeria’s secular status.
It said: “The inscriptions on the country’s currencies do not and at no time have they threatened the secular statehood of the nation or have they violated the Constitution of Nigeria, as every design and inscription was finalised with the approval of the relevant government bodies.”
It explained “Ajami inscriptions” on the naira notes dates back to the colonial era “and they do not imply that Arabic is an official language in Nigeria.”
The apex bank said: “The naira notes retained the inscriptions with Ajami since 1973 when the name of the Nigerian currency was changed to naira from pounds.
The Ajami was inscribed on the country’s currency by the colonialists to aid those without Western education in certain parts of the country, who, back then, constituted a larger part of the populace.
“The Ajami is not a symbol or mark of Islam but an inscription to aid the populace uneducated in Western education in ease of trade.”
It reasoned further that removing the Arabic inscriptions from the naira notes “would cost the tax-paying Nigerians and the Federal Government colossal sum of money to discard the existing naira notes and print new ones in satisfaction of the plaintiff.”
Hearing in the suit comes up on Tuesday before Justice Liman.
The judge will also be hearing a similar suit filed by Omirhobo against the Nigerian Army, seeking the removal of Arabic inscriptions from the logo of the Nigerian

North Dakota state legislative candidate who died of COVID-19 wins election

A North Dakota state legislative candidate who died of coronavirus last month won his election
Republican David Andahl, who was 55 when he died, and another GOP candidate, Dave Nehring, were elected to represent the 8th district in the state’s House of Representatives in Tuesday’s election.
Andahl and fellow District 8 House candidate Nehring who both won the Republican’s endorsements and voters’ nominations defeated one of North Dakota’s most powerful lawmakers, Rep. Jeff Delzer, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
Andahl won about 35% of the vote to win the seat.
Andahl died after being hospitalized with the illness for about four days, his mother, Pat Andahl, had told The Bismarck Times.
The mother said her son was “very careful” about the pandemic and eager to become an elected official in the country.
“He had a lot of feelings for his county … and wanting to make things better, and his heart was in farming. He wanted things better for farmers and the coal industry,” she said.
DEVELOPING: Biden in early lead, to address Americans Shortly

Joe Biden, the 47th vice-president of the United States, is currently leading the 2020 presidential race with over 220 electoral college votes.
Biden campaign said on Wednesday morning (Nigerian time) that the Democratic Party candidate will be addressing Americans shortly.
Incumbent President Donald Trump is still shy of 200 electoral college votes, despite taking key states like Ohio, Florida, and Texas.
The candidate to be declared winner must have clinched 270 electoral college votes before such a declaration can be made.
More than 110 million votes have been called so far — but experts suggest that votes could go as high as 150 million, making this the American election with the highest voter turnout since 1908.
JUST IN: Prophet TB Joshua Releases Prophecy For US 2020 Election

General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet T.B Joshua yesterday dropped a hint on the outcome of the ongoing United States presidential elections.
Joshua held back from directly stating, who the winner of the polls would be, but suggested that Christians would be disappointed.
President Donald Trump of the Republican Party is seeking re-election against former Vice President Joe Biden of the Democratic Party.
Christians, especially of the white demographics, are known to overwhelmingly support Trump.
About 80 per cent of white evangelical voters still support Trump, according to the latest polling by the Pew Research Centre, about the same as supported him in 2016.
Joshua urged Christians to take solace in U.S. Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett, a Trump appointee.
The U.S. Senate confirmed Barret’s appointment on October 27, in what was seen as a victory for President Trump and Conservatives, following the Democrats and Liberals’ opposition to her nomination.
In a November 1 YouTube audio titled ‘U.S. ELECTION 2020 PROPHECY!!!’ released by the SCOAN, Joshua promised to reveal more after the “inauguration of the new president”.
He said: “What is happening in the American election is as a result of the power in the tongue. The word we speak determines the life we enjoy (Proverbs 6:2). The tongue can either work for us or against us – death and life lie in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
“We Christians would have loved it to go the way we wanted. But the Bible says it is never proper to base our faith on our improvement after prayer. We should not worry. The joy is that the new Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett, will be an instrument of check.
“Finally, let us learn how to believe that God hears us when we pray – it is a much greater blessing. There is likely going to be pockets of resistance here and there but nothing will change. Let me reserve what I am seeing until the inauguration of the new president.”
In 2016, Joshua faced criticism following a prophecy on the U.S. election won by Trump.
