Fugitive Chinese tycoon accuses Beijing of ‘bribing the Vatican with £1.6billion a year to stop them criticising Beijing’s religion policies’

An exiled billionaire has accused the Chinese government of giving the Vatican £1.6billion every year in bribes to prevent it from criticising Beijing’s sweeping clampdown on religions.

Fugitive tycoon Guo Wengui claimed in a podcast that the Communist Party had been paying the Holy See generously since 2014 because Beijing ‘wanted the Vatican to shut up about China

‘s religion policies.’

US-based Guo, 52, said in the interview that the Communist country had also spent large sums to muzzle other countries – including Italy

and Australia – from voicing concerns.

Steve Bannon (pictured), aformer Trump strategist, spoke to the Chinese fugitive tycoon Guo Wengui in an interview on Bannon¿s self-launched radio show ¿The War Room¿ on June 20

The news comes as China faces widespread criticism over its policy against Muslims. At least one million ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims are held in the detention centres in Xinjiang in western China

The billionaire’s comment comes after China faced widespread criticism over its crackdown on the country’s religious groups, particularly the ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims.

Guo, who is known for his criticism against the Communist Party, made his bombshell claims on June 20 during an interview

with The War Room, an American podcast hosted by an ex-Trump adviser, Steve Bannon.

The highly wanted dissident said that the Chinese Communist Party had been allocating £1.6billion each year to gain influence over the Vatican in the past six years.

‘[They] want Vatican to shut up and follow the CCP about the religion polices,’ Guo said on the radio show. ‘That is disaster.’

The Chinese dissident also claimed that the Chinese government was paying the Holy See with $100million (£80million) before 2014, without specifying when those payments initially started.

‘CCP knows, if the Vatican tells the truth about Chinese Christians and Catholics, CCP is die,’ Guo said.

‘CCP is so worried, so they give two billion [dollars] to the Vatican, 1.5 billion [dollars] to Australia, 100million [dollars] to Italy,’ he added.

The Chinese dissident also claimed that the Chinese government was paying the Holy See with $100million (£80million) before 2014, without specifying when those payments initially started. Pictured, Chinese President Xi Jinping speaks during a news conference in 2019

Activists have claimed that the number of Muslim detainees in China could greatly exceed the commonly cited figure. A perimeter fence is constructed around what is officially known as a vocational skills education centre in Dabancheng in Xinjiang in China’s far west region

The Chinese tycoon was speaking with Steve Bannon, former Trump strategist, on Bannon’s self-launched radio show.

Bannon, who was also the former executive chairman of the right-leaning Breitbart News, set up the radio show in November from the basement of his Capitol Hill rowhome, long branded the ‘Breitbart Embassy’.

He also brought in former Breitbart London editor Raheem Kassam and Jason Miller, the Trump 2016 campaign’s spokesman, as co-hosts.

The show is said to be broadcast on six conservative talk radio stations in Florida and Virginia, as well as streaGuo, a former member of China’s Communist Party, fled to the US after learning he was wanted for bribery, fraud, money laundering, as well as rape.

A prominent real estate developer with a net worth of more than two billion dollars, Guo was accused of engaging in shady business deals in a 2015 report by Beijing-based media outlet Caixin, which he has denied.

Since then, he has become a self-described political activist claiming to shed light on alleged corruption within the Chinese government and has publicly criticized the country’s ruling Communist party in interviews and on Twitter.

Guo has developed a relationship with Bannon – who has also been an outspoken critic of the Chinese Communist Party.

The two announced their plans to set up a $100million investigation into Chinese corruption in November, the New York Times

reported.

Guo’s interview comes as China has been heavily criticised by other countries and humanitarian groups over its policy against Muslims and other religious groups.

UN experts and activists have claimed that at least one million ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims are held in the detention centres in the region.

Former detainees claimed that Muslims were forced to eat pork and speak Mandarin in those internment camps.

After initially denying their existence, China acknowledged that it had opened ‘vocational education centres’ in Xinjiang aimed at preventing extremism by teaching Mandarin and job skills.

HELPHELP! I Waited For My Wife To Finish School Before Sleeping With Her, Only For Her To Carry Another Man’s Baby

Scooper True LifeJul 1, 2020Read original

This story is about a man who waited for his wife to finish her schooling before he bedded her. Only for him to realize that she had gotten pregnant with somebody else’s child in school and wanted him to hide it from her parents. Read the story below and help him decide what to do.

On the day I paid the bride-price for my wife, she begged me, in the presence of all the 12 Elders that were around that fateful day, to allow her to finish her A-level education before we could wedlock, of which I accepted her request because the Elders intervened in the matter. I waited for two years.

Now, we just got married. We went for our honeymoon at Yakari in Bauchi State. She asked me ” Are you still a Virgin? ( I had never slept with her, even while we’re in Yakari, I don’t know the colour of her pants)

I told her “By the grace of God I am” and I kept myself not only because of you but for the fear of God and STD. She then told me that she has a secret to tell me, but, I must swear to keep it a secret. I looked at her and I told her, I ‘ll try not to mention it to anybody. I will try it.

She then told me that, she has a six-month-old baby with one of her course-mates at Uni Maid” and she wants me to cover her.

It was then that I noticed her bra was wet because milk was coming out of her breast. I asked her, how? cover you how? she uses the allowance that I send for her feeding to care for the baby.

When I asked her whether her parents were aware of her situation, she said no. I just told her that, I can’t keep this kind of a secret! I have never had s3x with you up to date, do you want me to claim somebody’s Child? I am so sorry I can’t. That was when she slapped me and ran out.

When I was invited by her family, they were not aware of this side of their daughter’s story. My wife was not at home, she ran away a day before I arrived at her family house.

I have not told her family the story because they sent me out of their house by beating me.

This is what happened to me people. What should I do?

JUST IN: Oba Of Benin Takes Position On Obaseki, Oshiomhole Fight

Meet TizzJun 19, 2020

The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Nedo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, has reacted to the rift between the suspended Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State.

In a statement on Thursday signed by Frank Irabor, Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, the monarch said the political developments happening in the state calls for serious concern.

The Oba of Benin also frowned against godfatherism and the imposition of candidates in some political parties. He, however, said the palace of the Oba of Benin will not get involved in partisan politics and warned against dragging the royal father into politics.

The monarch also denied reports that he prevailed on any of the aspirants in the upcoming elections to step down for another.

He said his prayer had always been that “God and our ancestors should give us a governor that will accord respect to traditional institution, develop this state and provide food on the table for the masses.”

The statement read: “HRM has said times without number that the palace of the Oba of Benin does not get involved in partisan politics.

“The Omo N’Oba strongly advises that in order to eschew recurrent socio-political conflict that seems to constantly ravish the state, making Edo people a laughing stock to the rest of the country on how politicians manage the affairs of Edo people, our Edo political actors must eradicate the twin evil of political vices of godfatherism and consensus candidacy.

The two practices seem antithetical to the very fundamental basis of democracy.”

“Let everybody take note that the palace is very weary of imposition of candidates, when only certain individuals want, but the majority of the people do not want.

“’Ghana must go’ politics should end in the state. Politicians should stop cashing in on the poor masses and exploiting them for their votes,” it added.

Interstate Ban Lifting, Ease of Lockdown, School Reopening May Be Announced As FG Briefs Nigerians

Today, His Excellency, President Muhammad Buhari will be addressing Nigerians on the subsequent phase of incremental easing of COVID-19 lockdown. The press will be released through the Presidential COVID-19 Task Force.

As observed, it appears that President Muhammad Buhari will not be addressing Nigerians furthermore on the intermittent media briefing on relaxation of lockdown.

However, Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 will likely continue to be summarizing the next steps to be taken by the President on COVID-19 on his social media.

Perhaps, these are the steps which are presumably to be addressed by President Muhammad Buhari on COVID-19 issue today:

— Reopening of schools across the states whereby only students in their final year in tertiary institutions; students sitting for the West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) and those sitting for the Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) will be allowed to resume with strict measures.

— Implication of mandatory face masks usage by the resuming students, compulsory placement of hand sanitizers in school premises and ban of social gathering in the school from students or school staff till further notice.

— Resumption of local airline flights operations starting from June 21st as presumed in the previous presidential press release.

— Total lifting of ban placed on interstate travel. Thus, people will be having a free movement and continue their usual activities.

— Popular marketplaces will be allowed to open biweekly and not every week as usual.

— Ban on international flights will still be intact while evacuation of stranded Nigerians in foreign countries continues.

At the matter of fact, if the aforementioned announcement is made, President Muhammad Buhari will win the hearts of many Nigerians more than ever.

I, hereby, urge every citizen of Nigeria to abide by the rules and regulations laid by the Presidential COVID-19 Task Force, the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) and World Health Organization in Nigeria to help fight the pandemic.

Killing of policemen in Taraba: Fears, assurances as Malami takes over trial, drops military suspectsBy Magnus umoh | 16 June 2020 | 4:19 am Adamu Mohammed (IGP)

Until August 6, 2019, it would have been difficult to imagine that Nigerian soldiers could aim at a moving vehicle, kill three police officers and two civilians guarding a kidnap kingpin, without a scratch on the handcuffed suspect, Bala Hamisu Wadume. Fortuitously, five other police officers in the vehicle were injured. Only the suspect survived the attack without a shrapnel touch. Assuming such Hollywood kind of precision was a fluke, what followed was even more bizarre. The suspect was freed from the handcuff against all logical reasoning and allowed to escape before he was re-arrested two weeks after by the police. In his confession, he reportedly implicated soldiers in the deadly escape.

Wadume was arrested August 6, by a team of anti-crime police officers in Ibi, Taraba state as a result of his alleged involvement in numerous heinous activities in the state. He was being taken to Jalingo, the state capital, when soldiers manning a checkpoint along the road opened fire on the police team, killing three officers and two civilians. Following public outcry, an expansive investigation was launched to unravel the culprits behind the violence, amidst allegations that soldiers of 93 Battalion, Takum, Taraba and top local police officers connived in the fatal operation to prevent Wadume’s arrest.

Wadume had in his statement identified his accomplices, including 10 soldiers and two policemen. They are Captain Tijjani Balarabe; Staff Sgt. David Isaiah; Sgt. Ibrahim Mohammed; Corporal Bartholomew Obanye; Private Mohammed Nura; Lance Corporal Okorozie Gideon and Corporal Markus Michael. Others are L/Corporal Nvenaweimoeimi Akpagra; Staff Sgt. Abdullahi Adamu and Private Ebele Emmanuel. The two police suspects are ASP Aondona Iorbee and Ahmad Suleiman, also known as Dan Ball. The three deceased policemen are Inspector Mark Ediale, 36, Sgt. Dahiru Musa, 40 and Owolabi Babajide 24, while the two civilians are Farouk Bashir, 30, and Usman Danazumi, 44.

Following the conclusion of investigation and the bid to commence trial, the attorney general of the federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) allegedly took over the process from Taraba State government and dropped the names of the indicted soldiers. Although section 174 (1) of the 1999 Constitution empowers the AGF to institute, take over or discontinue any criminal matter in any court in Nigeria, subsection 3 of that section says he must do so with regard to public interest, interest of justice and the need to prevent abuse of legal process.

When contacted by The Guardian through his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Malami insisted that no names were dropped in the Wadume case. According to him, what his office did was to severe the charges in view of the unavailability of the soldiers who in their own case needed to be released by the military authorities. Malami said the soldiers are likely undergoing military processes, which is delaying their release.

“The interest of justice requires and legitimately allowed for segmenting the case in the interest of speedy trail. “It is a common practice that absence of a co-accused will not constitute impediment to the progress of a case. Those available are entitled to fair trial and have their case determined within a reasonable time as a matter of Constitutional rights. • Deployed €1.3B, $49.7M to 11 African countries, ECOWAS
• $10B Response Facility to tackle economic downturn, job losses

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has projected that the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ravaging economies globally could cause Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to drop by between $22.1billion and $88.3billion.

According to the Bank, before the advent of COVID-19, West Africa was home to at least four of the continent’s fastest-growing economies, but has strongly felt the impact of the disease, as borders remain closed, and economic and social distress deepened.

The Bank said as of June 12, its COVID-19 emergency packages had reached the continent’s five geographic regions, noting that African countries, with the experience of Ebola control, are working to adapt to the new threat and looking to the Bank for an effective, multilateral response to the crisis.

Going by the data obtained from AfDB by The Guardian, the Bank has deployed over €1.3 billion and $49.7 million to 11 countries in the continent, plus the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

According to the data, €481.5 million and $22 million have been deployed so far by the Bank, to the West African region, to enable the governments to provide shortfall cash to the millions of people who have been affected by mass layoffs or are unable to work because of lockdowns.

About €288.5 million was deployed to Nigeria, €88 million to Senegal, €75 million to Côte d’Ivoire, €30 million to Cabo Verde, while $22 million was given to the ECOWAS community.

However, Gambia, Mali, and Niger, would benefit from the ECOWAS support package to strengthen their national health systems, while a large chunk of the funds would be channelled to addressing shortages in personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators, and other emergency equipment.

Also, €624 million and $500,000 was deployed to North Africa, being the worst region to be hit by the pandemic with over 60,000 cases as at June 12, triggering a sharp drop in household incomes as export and tourism earnings suffer.

From the data, €264 million was deployed to Morocco, €180 million to Tunisia, and $500,000 to Egypt, to support national and regional coordination mechanisms.

East Africa, the continent’s fastest-growing region economically, was simultaneously struck by the coronavirus outbreak and an infestation of desert locusts, a double whammy for the region’s farmers and economies.

In a region of climate change and water scarcity, post-harvest losses, and poorly developed agricultural markets, the promise of economic reforms and investment is being greatly threatened.

In the region, €188 million was deployed to Kenya, being one of the top performing countries amongst Ethiopia, and Rwanda, which have all seen a sharp fall in tourism revenue.

In the Southern Africa region, assistance from AfDB came in the form of preventive and protection measures, as well as financial assistance to the vulnerable beyond the end of the epidemic. €188 million was deployed to Mauritius, and $13.7 million to Zimbabwe.

In Central Africa where Cameroon reported over 8,000 cases and significant community transmission as at June 12, $13.5 million was approved for the provision of PPEs, testing kits, and healthcare facilities for Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic, which is among the countries with the least number of ventilators on the continent.

Meanwhile, the Bank’s rollout of emergency response support to assist African countries began in March, and has provided a package of financial relief and preparedness and response assistance.

The Bank has also raised $3 billion from the Fight COVID-19 Social Bond, the largest dollar-denominated social bond ever launched in in

The next political move of the embattled governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, after his disqualification by the governorship screening committee of All Progressives Congress (APC), may be made public sooner than expected.

Legit.ng reports that Obaseki’s hope of getting APC’s ticket to seek re-election in office was dashed on Friday, June 12, when Prof. Jonathan Ayuba-led committee declared him unfit for the party’s primary based on the discrepancies on the certificates he submitted for the screening exercise.

Less than twenty-four hours after his disqualification, the main opposition party – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Nigeria’s vice president, Atiku Abubakar, have been wooing Obaseki to defect to the party.

Speaking on his next political move, Obaseki in a tweet on Sunday, June 14, said he would disclose his next step after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari following his ouster from the race.

Obaseki, who is seeking a second term in office, also said he is still consulting with his supporters.

The governor described his disqualification as an act of injustice.

He tweeted: “I appreciate the sustained show of solidarity, support and goodwill from Edo people and Nigerians in the face of injustice by the APC screening committee.

“I will be making my next move known after I complete consultations with my supporters and meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.”

The chairman of the screening committee, Ayuba, had said that Obaseki was disqualified over a “defective” certificate.

“In our view of the issues raised. We concluded that the higher school certificate was defective. The NYSC certificate – and the act of the aspirant taking the party to court – these are some of the issues we have attached and based on the party constitution this has made us to recommend that the above candidate thereby his excellency Godwin Obaseki is not eligible to participate in the governor,” he had said.

The APC national working committee later upheld Obaseki’s disqualification, accusing the governor of also unduly interfering in the state legislature.

A report by the Nigerian Tribune indicates that Obaseki may settle for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and contest under the platform during the September gubernatorial election in the state.

According to the report, Obaseki is in talks with SDP, adding that he and his supporters may soon join the party.

3 FCT High Court staff members dismissed over Uzor’s suit against Ubah

ON JUNE 3, 20209:00 PMIN NEWS

The Committee set up by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, to investigate the case of forgery and fraud perpetrated by Dr. Obinna Uzor in his bid to unseat Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has recommended the dismissal of three officers of the court, while others were recommended for demotion for their roles in the forgery of court documents.

Uzor had allegedly used fake and forged documents and, in connivance with some court officials, tried to unseat Ubah as the Senator repress Anambra South senatorial district.

The committee, in its 37-page report dated June 1, 2020, established that the court officials connived with Dr. Uzor and his lawyers to perpetrate fraud and forgery of documents of the court.

According to the Committee’s report signed by its Chairman, Madugu Mohammed Alhaji, and Secretary, Aminu Audu, “the Committee, after investigation and careful study of evidence adduced and all the exhibits tendered, discovered that the entire suit contracted in CV/3044/18 was a fraud and does not exist in the FCT High Court record.

“The purported suit was not assigned by the Chief Judge and not found on any court register except the mutilated register in the process unit.

“The Chief Judge’s signature was forged and dated on the receipt of payment; processes were all altered to October 2018, to make the purported suit filed on September 25, 2019 look like a pre-election matter.

“The committee discovered that out of the six receipts checked by the Head of Revenue, four of them were not allocated to the FCT High Court. This means that those receipts were used to perpetrate the fraud.”

The committee further discovered that some of the staff of the High Court were part of the fraud.

Kingsley Ebibrah, a Registrar who was part of the alteration to the date was found guilty of gross misconduct, which is inimical to the service, was recommended for dismissal from the service of the FCT High Court.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has destroyed a clandestine laboratory for production of Hashish Oil and recovered 13 rounds of live ammunition with other drugs and substances in Lagos.
Head of Public Affairs, NDLEA, Mr Jonah Achema, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

Hashish is a drug made from the resin of the cannabis plant and it is consumed by inhaling from a small piece, typically in a pipe, bong, vaporizer or joint, or via oral ingestion.

Achema noted that the hashish clandestine laboratory was the first ever to be discovered by the agency as it had always uncovered other drugs and substances.

Achema, who noted that the laboratory was located in an apartment on No. 7, Imam Augusto Close, Victoria Island, Lagos was dismantled by the Serious Enforcement Team of NDLEA.

According to him, the investigation started before the COVID-19 and NDLEA had only uncovered methamphetamine, adding that it is shocking to discover such laboratory in the centre of Lagos.

He noted that the agency arrested one suspect (name withheld) in the course of the operation code-named Hash-Caste.

He said that the suspected owner of the laboratory engaged in the indoor growing of cannabis sativa and processing same into hashish oil through extraction.

“The suspect is a graduate of the University of Southern Denmark with a degree in Electronic Engineering.

“Aged 42, the suspect claimed to have been pushed into the hydroponic cannabis growing and Hashish Oil extraction following the collapse of his Inverter, Metering and Solar Installation Company in 2019.

“He said he noticed that there is so much money to be made in view of the high demand for Hashish oil in the international market as a curative medicine for cancer,” he said.

Achema said that the suspect expansive premise was well fortified with protective dogs and himself well-armed, ostensibly to put up resistance from the suspected onslaught of law enforcement agencies.

He added that several drug exhibits were recovered which include 911 grams of Cannabis seeds, 21 Kilograms of Cannabis infused Ethanol, 83 grams of Hashish Oil 123mg THC-70 CBD.

“1.127 Kilograms of Cannabis Cream, 80 grams of fresh Cannabis plant and 25 grams of dried Cannabis plant were also recovered.

“Other items found in the active laboratory are 500 grams of Potassium Hydroxide Pellets, Propyl Alcohol.

“500 grams of Sodium Hydroxide Pellets, Distilled water, Water Aspirator Vacuum Pump, Round bottom Flasks, Citric Acid, PH Meter, Retort Stands, Distillation Flasks, Printer, Spectronet wireless wifi, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).

“Two vehicles belonging to the suspect were seized as they were suspected to have been acquired from the proceeds of the illicit drug trade.

“Also detected are two bank accounts belonging to the suspect and one jointly operated by the suspect and his mother,” he said.

The Chairman, NDLEA, Col. Muhammad Abdallah (Rtd.) noted that the drug trade was “assuming a hitherto unthinkable dimension for somebody to turn his premises into a cannabis farm”.

He added that it was unimaginable for someone to establish in the same premises a laboratory to process the proceeds into bye products such as Hashish.

He urged all stakeholders to deploy all means to contain this act because Nigeria could not afford a dangerous brew of Hashish Oil.

He added that the agency had been working assiduously to put an end to methamphetamine local production.

Cameroon president breaks media silence after two months of pandemic

Cameroon’s 87-year-old President Paul Biya has made a televised address to his people ending more than two months of silence as the central African nation dealt with a burgeoning coronavirus crisis.
Biya’s long silence was for supporters a sign of gravitas but for critics one of failure.

“Like most countries in the world Cameroon is suffering from COVID-19,” Biya said Tuesday night on state channel CRTV.

“The number of people infected rises day after day, bringing proof that the fight against the pandemic is complex and difficult.”

Biya urged people to respect “measures taken by the government, such as the obligatory wearing of masks”.

He also asked them “not to give in to panic and not to believe false information put out on social networks”.

He last spoke to the nation on March 5, although Cameroon had counted by Monday 3,500 cases including 140 deaths, and has been hit harder by the virus than most sub-Saharan African countries.

Speculation about his death even circulated on the internet in late April and the government was moved to put out a denial.

In his 37 years in power, Cameroonians have become accustomed to Biya’s long absences, mainly because of poor health.

But his silence over the pandemic raised numerous questions for a leader who has overseen many crises since he took power in 1982.

He posed for the cameras after talks with the US ambassador on March 11 and again after meeting the French envoy.

His subsequent absence from public view saw the opposition question his role.

Main opposition leader Maurice Kamto, the runner-up to Biya in 2018 elections, said he had launched proceedings for the Constitutional Council to declare the presidency vacant.

Six opposition activists were arrested last week in Cameroon for “illegally” distributing face masks and disinfectant gel.

All are supporters of Kamto whose initiative to collect funds to fight the virus has been banned by the government.

They were released after five days.

Biya reappeared finally on the eve of national day.

“Most of you have fully understood that faced with the silent danger that COVID-19 represents it was time to set aside political quarrels and form a united front,” he said.
