Obioma urged schools and examination candidates to register before the deadline date, noting that there would be no further extension once the registration is closed.

“The National Examinations Council wishes to remind all stakeholders and the general public that the deadline for the registration of schools and examination candidates for the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) is Thursday, Sept. 10. of the deadline as approved by the Federal Ministry of Education,”the registrar stated.

He said the decision not to extend the deadline for registration was in accordance with the dictates of the federal ministry of education, the Sun newspaper reported.

Obioma stated that the non-extension would enable NECO to put the required logistics in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams.

Meanwhile, two days after the announcement of the resumption date for all schools in Lagos state, the Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) unit of the state ministry of education has warned the public to disregard a resumption time table flying around on the social media.
The Nation reported that the time-table claimed to be the 2020/2021 academic calendar, stated that the first term of the session would start September 21, 2020 and end December 18, 2020.

However, a statement by the public affairs officer, OEQA, Emmanuel Olaniran, said the calendar did not come from its office.

In another news, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, the vice-chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), has disclosed how students in the institution will resume following state government’s new directives on school reopening.
According to Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, both primary and secondary schools would tentatively be reopened on Monday, September 21.

In a subsequent development, LASU VC, Prof Fagbohun, on Monday, August 31, said students will resume in batches beginning from September.

BBNaija: “One Thing I’ve Learnt Today, Is That You’re All Cockroaches,” – Kiddwaya Fires Prince, Ozo, Dorathy And Nengi (Video)GhgossipAug 26, 2020Read original

Kiddwaya described his fellow housemates and would-be-inlaws as cockroaches during a comedy show they staged inside the house yesterday.
The housemates staged a beautiful comedy skit which sent social media buzzing throughout the day. The comedy show had Kiddwaya as the son of Laycon and Vee who went to seek Nengi’s hand in marriage.

Vee didn’t like the idea of her son marrying into the family of Nengi because her parents (Dorathy and Prince) were poor and had bad records, especially her mother who she described as a prostitute.

While the families went back and forth arguing and going at each other’s throat, Kiddwaya called for order in the house only to insult his inlaws saying they are all cockroaches.

Texas Renews Court Effort to Ban Abortion Procedure

Texas officials are trying to get a federal appeals court’s permission to enforce a ban on a commonly used second-trimester abortion procedure, even though the court has not yet ruled on its constitutionality.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Texas officials asked a federal appeals court’s permission Tuesday to enforce a ban on a commonly used second-trimester abortion procedure — before the court rules on its constitutionality.Recommended VideosPowered by AnyClip

A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans heard arguments on the law in November 2018. But the panel had yet to rule as of Tuesday. Last week, the same panel declined a Texas motion to allow enforcement of the law while it prepares its ruling. So, Texas officials on Tuesday asked the full 17-member court to consider the matter, essentially doing an end run around the panel.

The 2017 law uses the non-medical term “dismemberment abortion” to describe a procedure in which forceps and other instruments are used to remove the fetus from the womb, a process the Texas Legislature declared “brutal and inhumane.” Abortion rights groups say the procedure, used in second-trimester abortions, is known as dilation and evacuation, and that eliminating it forces women who did not or could not get an abortion in the first trimester, to choose less safe, less effective options.

A federal judge in Texas struck down the law in 2017, leading to the appeal before the 5th Circuit panel in New Orleans.

One reason the case has simmered at the 5th Circuit for so long is that the panel that originally heard the case nearly 22 months ago put it on hold pending a Supreme Court ruling in another abortion restriction case: a Louisiana law that required doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

The Supreme Court ruled on that case in June — striking down the Louisiana law. It was an immediate victory for abortion rights supporters. However, foes of legal abortion have focused on an opinion in the case written by Chief Justice John Roberts.null

Roberts had sided with the court’s four liberal justices in striking down the Louisiana admitting privileges law. He said the court should stand by an earlier decision striking down another state’s nearly identical law. However, he also said he thought the earlier decision had been wrongly decided.

Roberts’ reasoning has led some analysts — and anti-abortion lawyers — to believe there is a Supreme Court majority ready to allow more restrictions on legal abortion. Texas attorneys argue that, based on Roberts’ opinion, the Texas ban on dilation and extraction is not an unconstitutional burden on a woman’s right to an abortion.

Appellate judges in other areas also appear to think the issue might be ready for another look. On Aug. 7, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a lower court order that had blocked four Arkansas abortion restrictions, including a ban on dilation and evacuation procedures. The 8th Circuit ruling said the U.S. District Judge in Arkansas needed to take another look at the issue in light of Roberts’ opinion in the Louisiana case.

Still, the Supreme Court, in June 2019 declined to hear arguments on a similar dilation and extraction law in Alabama that was blocked by a federal judge.

The Texas case was argued at the 5th Circuit in November of 2018 before judges Carl Stewart and James Dennis, both nominees of President Bill Clinton; and Judge Don Willett, a nominee of President Donald Trump. Willett broke with Stewart and Dennis last week, saying a stay should have been issued so the law could be enforced.

Texas’ new request for a stay will be considered by a full appeals court on which nominees of Republican presidents outnumber Democratic presidents’ nominees 12-5.null

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A task force looking to improve policing in Connecticut in response to law enforcement shootings of Black and Hispanic people is turning its attention to what the public thinks should be done, scheduling eight video conference listening sessions in September.Recommended VideosPowered by AnyClip

The state Police Transparency and Accountability Task Force will be holding the twice-a-day, two-hour sessions every Thursday next month, on Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The panel discussed the dates during an online meeting Tuesday.

“We know that ultimately and fundamentally, this is about the people of the state of Connecticut,” said state Rep. Joshua Hall, a Hartford Democrat and task force member. “So we want to hear from them whether or not we’re on the right track and looking at the right things.”

The task force also planned to launch a new website Tuesday, http://www.ctpolicetransparency.com, which will allow the public to sign up to speak at the listening sessions and submit written testimony.

The panel was created last year as part of a police reform bill approved in response to police shootings of unarmed Black and Hispanic people in the state and across the country.

In June, the panel voted to further study proposals in its preliminary report to state lawmakers including creating an independent authority to investigate police use-of-force incidents, banning chokeholds and other neck restraints and examining labor contract sections that make it hard to fire unfit officers.

Many of those proposals, however, were included in a new police reform bill signed into law by Gov. Ned Lamont last month, including creating a new inspector general to investigate police use-of-force cases, limiting circumstances in which deadly use of force including chokeholds can be justified, allowing more civilian oversight of police departments and allowing civil lawsuits against officers for violating people’s civil rights, in certain situations.null

The new law expanded the scope of the task force’s work to include examining how police execute “no-knock” arrest warrants without identifying themselves before entering people’s homes, how to increase the hiring and promotion of minority and female police officers, whether to limit when police can stop motorists for traffic violations and whether to mandate the revocations of officers’ state certifications that are required for them to hold their jobs, under certain circumstances.

The panel also will review the section of the new law that changes government immunity protections for police officers. It’s final report to legislators is due at the end of next year.

Task Force Chairman Daryl McGraw, a community activist and founder of a criminal justice consulting organization, paused during Tuesday’s meeting to note the shooting of Jacob Blake by officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday. Blake is being treated at a hospital for multiple gunshot wounds.

“With the situation that happened in Wisconsin with Mr. Blake, this only makes our work more and more important,” McGraw said. “I feel like we’re going to do some really positive work not only in our state, but also be the example in the country because unfortunately things are still happening, people are still being shot.”

My remaining years in office is to improve service delivery- President Buhari assuresGlobalnewsAug 25, 2020

President Buhari has assured that he would use the remaining part of his tenure to improve service delivery to Nigerians.

The President gave the assurance while receiving Letters of Credence from Ambassadors/High Commissioners of eight countries at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, August 25.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari said he would improve access to quality education, health care and enhance productivity, He said efforts were being made to sustain Nigeria’s position as profitable investment destination with unequalled incentives in all sectors, especially large market and flexible tax system, which investors from various countries could take advantage of.

“In our efforts to achieve a realistic domestic and foreign policy, as well as national development, we have identified the following nine priority areas to guide our policy directions over the next few years.

“Build a thriving and sustainable economy; Enhance social inclusion and reduce poverty; Enlarge agricultural output for food security and export; Attain energy sufficiency in power and petroleum products and expand transport and other infrastructural development.

“Expand business growth, entrepreneurship and industrialization; Expand access to quality education, affordable healthcare and productivity of Nigerians; Build a system to fight corruption, improve governance and create social cohesion; and improve security for all.’’President Buhari told the diplomats

Describing Nigerians as the “nation’s most prized assets’’, President Buhari said the nine priority mandates were already reflected in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, a medium-term initiative pioneered by the government to restore economic growth and development while leveraging the resourcefulness and resilience of the citizens.

The President urged the diplomats to use the opportunity of working in the country to improve relations with their governments and people.

“I have no doubt that you might have prior and in-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s huge potential which you will hopefully see for yourselves. I therefore, urge you to go around the country, see things for yourselves and report to your home governments. This is important as you all are representatives of both your sending and host states.’’

President Buhari said Nigeria will remain steadfast in pursuing deeper and valuable relations among nations without discrimination.

“Nigeria strongly supports joint action to ensure a democratic and fair world order based on strict respect for the norms of international law, the United Nations Charter, recognition of the unquestionable value of cultural diversity, national sovereignty, and the right of all countries to decide their future freely, without external pressure.

“Nigeria does not divide its partners into big and small; we value and respect every country, and with every country we are ready to pursue dialogue, as well as build cooperation on the basis of equality and constructive mutual respect.

“These include our cooperation in strengthening regional, continental and global peace and security, resolving complex issues, settling conflicts, as well as addressing dangerous threats to mankind, among which include terrorism, proliferation of small arms and light weapons, human trafficking, cybercrimes, poverty, communicable diseases and epidemics.’’ he said

The Ambassadors/High Commissioners who presented their Letters of Credence are: Hocine Latil of Algeria; Luong Quoc Thinh of Vietnam; Dr Benson Alfred Bana of Tanzania; Traore Kalilou of Cote d’Ivoire; Abakar Saleh Chahaimi of Chad; Jamal Mohammed Barrow of Somalia; Brahim Salem El Mami Buseif of Sahrawi Arab Republic and Mohammed Alibak of Iran.

While it was bedtime at the Big Brother’s house, the new head of house, Ozo and his deputy, Nengi were ready to sleep.

Nengi used her pillows to as a demarcation between herself and Ozo. Funny enough Ozo who is a nice and calm guy was already fast asleep while she was having issues sleeping.

She kept on turning and turning and changing her sleeping positions for some time while she watched the cute Ozo sleeping.

See the cute photo to prove;https://res-odx.op-mobile.opera.com/pagead?w=0&h=0&pk=s3480327769472&ct=&uc=true&cc=US&lc=en&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F18aad956abd55d014c5df33ee728d522-ng-en%3Ffeatures%3D2114219%26uid%3D7da80037fb4aaf43d3f9467f78c6c72008138822%26like_count%3D42%26client%3Dmini%26like_list%3Dlike-laugh&rf=&cst=UTF-8&title=QkJOYWlqYTIwMjA6IE5lbmdpIElzIEluIExvdmUgV2l0aCBPem8gKFNlZSBQaG90bykgLSBPcGVyYSBOZXdzIE9mZmljaWFs&vr=cdn-af.feednews.com&bl=en-US&sh=750&sw=360&sch=2329&scw=360&scl=0&sct=0&tz=GMT%2B0100&vph=622&vpw=360&debug=false

After a while she woke him up and told him goodnight.

That was really lovely and that shows that Nengi is in love with Ozo.

There numerous fans are really happy about this development because a lot of people think they look really lovely and cute together which they actually do.

Some other fans are praising Nengi for the kind of self control she has.

Here are more cute photos of them;

This week is already looking interesting as fans are looking forward to their first kiss although some think she would not give in to her desires.

Some fans are in expectance or a first kiss from the Ozone ship, others feel Nengi would not give in to such.

As the show unfolds we would see if she would maintain her self control or if she would give in.

What do you think guys? Do you think Nengi will give in?

Please drop your opinion, like and share and don’t forget to follow for more updates. God richly bless you.

The leader of INRI Evangelical spiritual church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has sent warnings to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State on the choice of its governorship candidate in 2023.

Primate Ayodele said for the APC to succeed in 2023, it must choose a former APGA member who decamped to APC.

‘If APC makes use of Alex Otti, He will deliver for APC, He is the only one that can stand in APC come 2023.

Similarly, Primate Ayodele has released some warnings for the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu who is also the APC gubernatorial candidate in Ondo state.

Recall that Primate Ayodele earlier prophesied that Rotimi Akeredolu will become victorious in the party primaries which held in July.

Primate Ayodele also revealed that the governor will face betrayal, backstabbing in the hands of his party members, especially those he feels he has reconciled

“Rotimi Akeredolu will be back-stabbed by his party members, even though he feels he has reconciled with them, they will betray him. He should be careful.” The clergyman said.

Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has joined other Christian bodies in kicking against the Company and Allied Matters Act, CAMA.

The law signed by President Buhari gives a minister the power to appoint an interim committee over an organization or church where misappropriation is believed to have taken place.

Adeboye who spoke through his Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, said: “The stand of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the leadership of the church on issues like this is not always different from whatever the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN.

“We always align ourselves with whatever the stand of the leadership of CAN and PFN on issues like this. The Redeemed Christian Church of God does not take any decision that is at variance with the stand of CAN and PFN and the same thing applies concerning this very issue.

“Daddy will not take a stand different from the ones of the two organisations, CAN and PFN. CAN and PFN have spoken on the issue of CAMA and as far as the Redeemed Christian Church of God is concerned that is our position too. We are in alignment with that stand,” the RCCG spokesman said.

The hausa/fulani traditions has a very unique way of ruling their people since before the colonial rule.

Their men and women are properly dressed in long dresses which is made by our local tailors.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-1883810847636355&output=html&h=250&slotname=4256911181&adk=1283701908&adf=1296322571&w=300&fwrn=7&lmt=1598342850&psa=1&guci=2.2.0.0.2.2.0.0&format=300×250&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F5835255c55c4157d2141bea2781bc346-ng-en%3Ffeatures%3D2114219%26uid%3D7da80037fb4aaf43d3f9467f78c6c72008138822%26like_count%3D9%26client%3Dmini&flash=0&wgl=1&adsid=NT&dt=1598342849865&bpp=6&bdt=2255&idt=402&shv=r20200820&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D0d2c2ab51919d711%3AT%3D1597344569%3AS%3DALNI_MY92a2-z83RlJULSbLvCScT9XPHEw&prev_fmts=0x0%2C320x100&nras=1&correlator=7828742047755&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=2144357950.1597344559&ga_sid=1598342850&ga_hid=391196007&ga_fc=0&iag=0&icsg=565951&dssz=12&mdo=0&mso=0&u_tz=60&u_his=2&u_java=0&u_h=750&u_w=360&u_ah=750&u_aw=360&u_cd=24&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&adx=30&ady=549&biw=360&bih=622&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=182982000%2C182982200%2C21066973&oid=3&pvsid=2724710494569017&pem=749&rx=0&eae=0&fc=1920&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C360%2C0%2C360%2C622%2C360%2C622&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CoeE%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8192&bc=31&ifi=2&uci=a!2&fsb=1&xpc=2lJb8JhGHW&p=https%3A//cdn-af.feednews.com&dtd=437

This comprises of people who engaged in moulding, tailoring, building E.T.C.

Our tailors have a specific type of clothes for the royal family and other wealthy people in the hausa/fulani kingdom.

This tradition has also specify people who are eligible to be appointed as emirs and other traditional titles the in land.

According to their tradition children inherent the title from their parents, you can only rule if you have the royal lineage but our Democratic system of government has ruined every thing about traditions.https://res-odx.op-mobile.opera.com/pagead?w=0&h=0&pk=s3480327769472&ct=&uc=true&cc=US&lc=en&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F5835255c55c4157d2141bea2781bc346-ng-en%3Ffeatures%3D2114219%26uid%3D7da80037fb4aaf43d3f9467f78c6c72008138822%26like_count%3D9%26client%3Dmini&rf=&cst=UTF-8&title=UmVhc29ucyB3aHkgRW1pciBTYW51c2kgaXMgc3RpbGwgV2VhcmluZyBIaXMgUm95YWwgQ2xvdGhlcyBBZnRlciBoaXMgRGV0aHJvbmVtZW50IFtQaG90b3NdIC0gT3BlcmEgTmV3cyBPZmZpY2lhbA%3D%3D&vr=cdn-af.feednews.com&bl=en-US&sh=750&sw=360&sch=2242&scw=360&scl=0&sct=0&tz=GMT%2B0100&vph=622&vpw=360&debug=false

A governor has the power to impeached or dethroned a traditional title holder meanwhile its is the duty of the kingmakers to do so.

They are entitled of appointing an emir and also dethroning him when he fails his people.

Its also stated that when an emir is dethroned he has to be banished from his kingdoms to avoid any misunderstanding between him and the new king.

In the hausa/fulani clan once an emir is always an emir he will be supported with his guards and will be allow to dress normally in his royal clothes.

This was the main reasons why dethroned emir sanusi is always pictured in his royal clothes despite his dethronement.

If we can recalled properly sanusi was dethroned by Governor abdullahi umar ganduje, the executive Governor of kano state.

This was followed by a live broadcast on the NTA TV Network which stated that sanusi has been breaking rules and regulations of kano state government.

Sanusi was forced to leave kano to a village in nassarawa state, he was later relocated to lagos state with his family.

Few days ago sanusi travelled to kaduna where he stays for some days to receive his supporters from across the Country.

Stop blaming Buhari for hardship, high cost of food items — Gov Badaru

mAug 25, 2020 4:07 AM

Jigawa State Governor, Mohammadu Badaru Abubakar said that Nigerians should no longer blame President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s administration for the current scarcity of the foreign exchange, saying that the problem was traceable to the fact that Nigeria ‘is a chronic importer’

He said this while commending the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami  on the commissioning of 12 digital projects build by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA and other agencies under the ministry.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-1883810847636355&output=html&h=250&slotname=4256911181&adk=3389870116&adf=3744881181&w=300&fwrn=7&lmt=1598342536&psa=1&guci=2.2.0.0.2.2.0.0&format=300×250&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F32fb783175791fc9948b63fa0f780f4a_ng-ng-en%3Ffeatures%3D2114219%26uid%3D7da80037fb4aaf43d3f9467f78c6c72008138822%26like_count%3D14%26client%3Dmini%26like_list%3Dlike-laugh&flash=0&wgl=1&adsid=NT&dt=1598342535892&bpp=5&bdt=3615&idt=764&shv=r20200820&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D0d2c2ab51919d711%3AT%3D1597344569%3AS%3DALNI_MY92a2-z83RlJULSbLvCScT9XPHEw&prev_fmts=0x0%2C320x100&nras=1&correlator=1041140829649&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=2144357950.1597344559&ga_sid=1598342536&ga_hid=37155933&ga_fc=0&iag=0&icsg=565951&dssz=12&mdo=0&mso=0&u_tz=60&u_his=2&u_java=0&u_h=750&u_w=360&u_ah=750&u_aw=360&u_cd=24&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&adx=30&ady=1051&biw=360&bih=622&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=182982000%2C182982200%2C21066357%2C21066647%2C21066973&oid=3&pvsid=4407320294488853&pem=749&rx=0&eae=0&fc=1920&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C360%2C0%2C360%2C622%2C360%2C622&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CoeEbr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8192&bc=31&ifi=2&uci=a!2&btvi=1&fsb=1&xpc=wRZph46H2U&p=https%3A//cdn-af.feednews.com&dtd=782

He insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari should not be blamed for the hardship in the country and the high cost of food items and other goods in the market, stating that the previous administrations failed to create a buffer for the preservation of naira against dollar, hence the scarcity of dollar in the money market and rising cost of goods.https://res-odx.op-mobile.opera.com/pagead?w=0&h=0&pk=s3349331957248&ct=&uc=true&cc=US&lc=en&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F32fb783175791fc9948b63fa0f780f4a_ng-ng-en%3Ffeatures%3D2114219%26uid%3D7da80037fb4aaf43d3f9467f78c6c72008138822%26like_count%3D14%26client%3Dmini%26like_list%3Dlike-laugh&rf=&cst=UTF-8&title=U3RvcCBibGFtaW5nIEJ1aGFyaSBmb3IgaGFyZHNoaXAsIGhpZ2ggY29zdCBvZiBmb29kIGl0ZW1zIBQgR292IEJhZGFydSAtIE9wZXJhIE5ld3MgT2ZmaWNpYWw%3D&vr=cdn-af.feednews.com&bl=en-US&sh=750&sw=360&sch=2775&scw=360&scl=0&sct=0&tz=GMT%2B0100&vph=622&vpw=360&debug=false

‘‘In the last five years of the previous administration, oil was averaged at $100 per barrel, our five year probably $50 per barrel on average. At least with half of the resources available to Muhammadu Buhari, we have achieved a lot.

‘‘The ministry of aviation has completed 150 projects in four years and still counting with half of the resources so is the same story in other ministries. Today, we can proudly say, five years of Buhari administration and five years of previous administration if analyzed, I am sure it will be confirmed that we have done well with lesser resources available.

‘‘In trade and investment, we are increasing our non-oil export by the day, a good strategy. And again our Ease of Doing Business, we are improving in the ranking, so many industries are coming up.

In my state alone, we have seen industrial revolution for export substitution. If we take the statistics and compare them with the last five years, I am sure we will see government of President Muhammadu Buhari has done very well.https://res-odx.op-mobile.opera.com/pagead?w=0&h=0&pk=s3480327769472&ct=&uc=true&cc=US&lc=en&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F32fb783175791fc9948b63fa0f780f4a_ng-ng-en%3Ffeatures%3D2114219%26uid%3D7da80037fb4aaf43d3f9467f78c6c72008138822%26like_count%3D14%26client%3Dmini%26like_list%3Dlike-laugh&rf=&cst=UTF-8&title=U3RvcCBibGFtaW5nIEJ1aGFyaSBmb3IgaGFyZHNoaXAsIGhpZ2ggY29zdCBvZiBmb29kIGl0ZW1zIBQgR292IEJhZGFydSAtIE9wZXJhIE5ld3MgT2ZmaWNpYWw%3D&vr=cdn-af.feednews.com&bl=en-US&sh=750&sw=360&sch=2775&scw=360&scl=0&sct=0&tz=GMT%2B0100&vph=622&vpw=360&debug=false

‘‘The ministry of works is constructing about 500 roads in housing, many projects are ongoing across the country.

‘‘The problem is that there was no import substitution, no clear agenda to be realized to reduce import substitution during the last administration. We kept making money without savings, we relied heavily on importation.

“We blame Buhari but he did not cause drop in oil price. We have to import with dollars because the past leaders have been chronic importers, we have to import everything we need. Not only import, we rely heavily on available few dollars.

‘‘The foreign reserve was 29bn dollars when we came in, we could not dip hand into the reserve. This was the genesis of things being expensive. I do not see where Buhari is responsible. He is not responsible for drop in price of oil, we have to blame past leaders, who know that oil can never be stable.

“They had opportunity to dip hand in the reserve and stabilize our currency but did not save for the future and they have the audacity to shamelessly accuse Buhari for high cost of commodities.

‘‘Any fair minded Nigerian will know that president Buhari has delivered on his mandate and deserve our commendation. We have done wonderfully well and will soon blow our trumpet for people to see.

“Nigerians should come out with the truth and stop listening to propaganda and trace our problems to the roots. He is not the one who killed the rabbit, he was asked to carry the dead rabbit.’

Thein Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state, after she jumped down from a motorcycle, has spoken out after the video went viral.

In the video that’s since gone viral on social media, a crowd is gathered around the lady and she is seen giving unintelligible responses to the questions from people gathered around her.

She mentioned in a dramatic way that she is from Ogbomoso and currently a student of LAUTECH.

Commenting with her Instagram account, @tgold8489, the lady stated that she didn’t run mad and told everyone that she’s “perfectly fine and sound in health“.

She however failed to explain what had happened on Saturday, August 22, even though people were curious to know and kept asking her.

Her friends also attested to the fact that she’s fine now. Those who commented, advised her to stay away from “drugs” though she didn’t state if drugs are to blame for her action.

Trump and the Republican Party look to change the 2020 narrative as first night of their convention gets underway

ADnullLIFESTYLE | 8.25.2020 | 2:08CNN892/// Tim Scott/// Nikki Haley/// Joe Biden

President Donald Trump and the GOP seized the spotlight Monday evening on the first night of the Republican National Convention hoping to convince voters that he will preserve America as a “land of promise” while his rival Joe Biden would be a puppet of the radical left.

Tapping his roots as a television producer, Trump has been heavily involved in the planning for the four-day event, instructing organizers that he wanted to do more live programming and dynamic segments than the Democrats broadcast during their convention last week. However, it appears many speeches were pretaped for at least the convention’s first night as plans were scrambled due to the coronavirus.RelatedAs convention opens, Trump sets tone by warning without evidence of ‘rigged’ vote

The night began with a series of speeches from Republican activists and a small business owner from Montana who told the story of how her coffee shop was saved by coronavirus stimulus funding passed by Congress and signed by Trump into law.

Though he has criticized Biden and the Democrats for holding what he called the darkest, angriest, gloomiest convention in history, he touched off the convention Monday morning by unearthing his grievances from the 2016 election and falsely suggesting that the election will be rigged against Republicans because many voters are turning to mail-in ballots due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.ADnull

“We caught them doing some really bad things in 2016. Let’s see what happens,” Trump told delegates Monday morning. “We have to be very careful because they’re trying it again, this whole 80 million mail-in ballots that they’re working on. Sending them out to people that didn’t ask for them. They didn’t ask, they just get them, and it’s not fair and it’s not right. And it’s not going to be possible to tabulate, in my opinion.”

And despite party officials’ promises of an optimistic, positive convention, early speakers followed Trump’s lead from earlier in the day and tore into Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, adopting Trump’s dark framing of a nation on the brink.

Charlie Kirk, founder of a key conservative students organization, warned that American freedoms were at risk from “bitter, deceitful, vengeful, arrogant activists.” School choice activist Rebecca Friedrichs warned that “unions are subverting our republic.” Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said that Biden and Harris were a front for left-wing radicals.ADnull

“They’ll disarm you, empty the prisons, lock you in your house and invite MS-13 to live next door,” Gaetz said.

Though the Trump administration has been undermining the operations of the post office for months — with changes made under Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that include removing high-volume sorting machines, while cutting overtime and post office hours — the President claimed without evidence that Democrats are attempting to create a smokescreen with the postal service controversy to cover up election maneuvering.

He is seeking to frame his presidency this week as one defined by roaring success in the economy, focusing on gains in retail sales and the stock market despite the millions of people who have lost their job due to the nation’s Covid-19 shutdown earlier this year. There will be an entire segment Monday night devoted to changing the perception, shared by large majorities of voters, that Trump has mishandled the pandemic and was slow to act during the critical months of February and March.

Throughout the week, the Republican National Committee is hoping to highlight the stories of small business owners and Covid-19 survivors who plan to share how the Trump administration helped them get through the crisis.

Monday night’s program features Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr.; former Trump ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley; and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, the party’s only Black senator who championed the GOP’s version of police reform after George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer.

The campaign will highlight regular Americans who will counter criticisms of the President over his handling of the pandemic and the economic fallout and who back his positions on issues like gun control, taxes and the use of experimental drugs for terminally ill patients while portraying him as a man of hidden compassion.ADnull

Officials, lawmakers and allies of the President will attempt to rebut four days of Democratic criticisms of his response to the pandemic.

While there will be an audience when Trump delivers his address from the South Lawn on Thursday, sources tell CNN the RNC and Trump campaign scrapped plans to have a live audience at the Mellon Auditorium, where Donald Trump Jr. and others will give their speeches on Monday.

Gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited in Washington, DC, due to the coronavirus pandemic and it became too much of a headache to figure out how to safely have an effective audience, an official involved in the planning told CNN.

Trump Jr., the night’s keynote speaker, will describe “Trump’s America as a land of opportunity — a place of promise” while Haley will argue that the President stood up for the United States in the world.

Trump is expected to speak during the program, including for a conversation with front-line workers who will join him at the White House to discuss the work they have been doing during the pandemic.

Earlier Monday, Trump was formally nominated for reelection by cheering delegates.

As the delegates cheered him with the traditional “Four more years!” directed toward an incumbent president running for reelection, Trump said, “If you really want to drive them crazy, you say 12 more years.”

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

APC Reacts To INEC’s Decision Not To Issue Certificate Of Return To OkorochaPosted by Akham Papa on March 17, 2019

The National Vice-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (South-South), Chief Hilliard Eta, has said his party is not responsible for the non-issuance of the Certificate of Return to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Okorocha while reacting to INEC’s action, said it was an insult to his person and a mockery of Nigeria’s democracy, alleging that the electoral commission had colluded with some of his political enemies to deny him his mandate.

He was quoted to have said, “I think it is a script the Resident Electoral Commissioner is playing. My election was peaceful, free and fair. All that is happening now is a script carefully planned in Abuja.”

Reacting to Okorocha’s comment, Eta said, “The APC has nothing to do with Okorocha’s predicament with INEC over Certificate of Return. The party has got nothing to do with the INEC’s decision.”

The APC’s national vice-chairman also said the party would recommend the expulsion of Okorocha and others currently on suspension from the APC for alleged anti-party activities.

Eta alleged the suspended people were painting the party in a bad light.

“It is incorrect for him (Okorocha) to think that the party has a hand in the matter. It is characters like Okorocha that are giving us a bad name. Adam Oshiomhole has given a proper and distinguished leadership style. Unfortunately, characters like Okorocha, Osita Okechukwu and Usani (Usani) are giving us a bad name.

“We are going to recommend them for expulsion to the party’s National Executive Committee,” he added.

Okorocha, a senatorial candidate of the APC, was announced winner of the Imo West senatorial election held on February 23 by the Returning Officer, Prof Francis Ibeabuchi, in Orlu, after polling 97,762 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Jones Onyereri, who scored 68,117 votes.

But Ibeabuchi made a U-turn in Abuja when he said the results for the district and the declaration that followed were done when he felt he was no longer safe.

Following his revelation, INEC’s Head of Voter Education, Festus Okoye, said the commission would not award a Certificate of Return to any candidate in an election where results were announced under duress.

The commission made good its position on Thursday when it failed to present Certificates of Return to Okorocha and 42 other announced ‘winners’ in the February 23 National Assembly elections.

Several persons feared may have died Sunday morning at Emene, Enugu, following a violent clash between security agents and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The clash threw the whole Emene and environs into chaos and disrupted church services as worshippers of the various churches in the area ran helter-skelter to escape being caught in the crisis.

An eyewitness account said that the trouble started at about 7.00 am when some police officers invaded the Community Secondary School Emene where members of IPOB were meeting, to disperse and arrest them.

According to the account, the attempt was resisted, turning the encounter bloody with IPOB members reportedly overpowering the security operatives.

In a swift reaction, a large reinforcement was called and over a dozen patrol vans loaded with armed security agents comprising police, army and DSS arrived the scene and faced the Biafran agitators.

Sounds of gunfire and teargas fumes filled the area, particularly between St Patrick Secondary School and St Joseph Catholic Church along the old Abakaliki Road.

One account lamented that the premises of St. Patrick Secondary School was “flowing with blood” as fleeing IPOB members were pursued into the school by security operatives.

APC Reacts To INEC’s Decision Not To Issue Certificate post by magnus on March 17, 2019

JUST IN: World Bank Promises To Reward Nigerian States With N.1bn Each If Govs Can Do This For Their Peoplefollow4likeAug 16, 2020

The World Bank has promised to reward Nigerian states with $2.5 million each in grants, if they implement, by September 30, tax relief programmes for individuals and business owners to ease the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, head of media and public affairs of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) made this known via a statement.

The tax relief programmes include: extension of filing and payment dates; tax moratoriums; waivers or reduction of penalties, and interests over the extension period.

According to Bello-Barkindo, the decision was made during a virtual meeting held on August 14 under the states’ fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability (SFTAS) programme for results, jointly organised by the World Bank and NGF, in conjunction with the federal ministry of finance, budget and national planning.

“The 36 states of the federation are introducing tax relief programmes to mitigate the unending toll of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses and individual taxpayers and ensure the speedy recovery of state economies,” the statement read.

“State governments are themselves currently experiencing a liquidity crisis of their own; and with limited capacity to borrow, it has become imperative that they find a balance between granting tax reliefs and maintaining revenues at a sustainable level.

“The extent to which government revenues will be impacted by these reliefs will depend on the type of relief that they grant and their ability to raise their tax efforts simultaneously, including offering incentives for greater tax compliance.

“These efforts are being incentivised by a new Disbursement Linked Indicator (DLI) under the Federal Ministry of Finance Budget and National Planning (FMFBNP) World Bank $750 million States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Programme for Results.

“Eligible States will be rewarded with USD2.5 million each in performance-based grants if they announce by 31st July, 2020 and implement by ‪30th September, 2020, a tax compliance relief programme for individual taxpayers and businesses to mitigate the COVID-19 impact.”

Each states is, however, expected to meet some criteria before it can receive the $2.5 million grant, one of which is the announcement by the commissioner for finance or the executive chairperson of the state internal revenue service, which will be published on state’s website and in national dailies to ensure widespread awareness amongst taxpayers.

Also, tax officials and collecting agents will be issued guidelines by the states for the implementation of the reliefs to ensure consistent execution.
